Scripting is a great way to streamline a repetitive workflow, or run the same task over and over with slightly different input or output parameters. I've used scripting to import, reproject, QC and display data collected daily in the field, or back at the office to create images of numerous maps or grid multiple databases at various cell sizes.
In scripting, interactive tasks (like right clicking in a database) are not recorded. There are a few limitations like this that are addressed by options found in the Scripting menu.
For example, if you wanted to script the interactive task of renaming many channels, you could use the copy channel option to create a new channel with the correct name and then use the option in the Scripting menu to delete the original channel.
