When Geosoft added ArcGIS capabilities to Oasis montaj, new functionality appeared to help Geosoft users work with ArcGIS data. Here are a few ways to use them:
1. Shape file polygon and polyline vertices can be imported into a Geosoft database (.GDB). This was mentioned in a previous article.
2. The ArcGIS MXD menu lets Geosoft users open and manipulate ArcGIS map documents (.MXD). Check out this short video [new link to video] to see this in action.
3. Import symbolized layer files (.LYR) to keep the symbology assigned in ArcGIS. Then the Geosoft Map Identify Tool can be used to identify the attributes of the underlying shape file.
